ZATON
ZATON (43° 47'N; 15° 50'E), village (pop. 1,197 in 1991) and bay in the lower reaches of the river Zrmanja, some 1M northwest of Triska point.
Approach: Landmarks: the green tower (green light) on Triska point, the green column (green light) on the SE end of the mole and the belfry at the head of the bay.
Mooring: The bay is sheltered from all winds except the sirocco, which causes considerable waves at the head of the bay. Yachts drawing up to 2.5m can moor at the mole. There is a good anchorage in the outer part of the bay. During the sirocco use the four-point moor, bows-to SE.
Facilities: Post office. Provisions and water available.
Sights: Sv Juraj and Sv Rok churches (1533, renovated); the ruins of a medieval building at Bankovac.
