MIDDLE ADRIATIC ISLANDS
TELASCICA (43° 55'N; 15° 10'E), natural harbour in a deep uninhabited bay on the SE end of Dugi otok.
Approach: From open sea the following landmarks can be identified: Grpascak hill and the lighthouse on the islet of Sestrice vele (white light); next to the lighthouse attendant's house there is an iron tower with spiral red and white bands; red tower (red light) on the Vidilica point.
Mooring: The bay affords good anchorage and shelter to yachts of all sizes; it is particularly attractive for a longer stay. The bora is violent and a strong sirocco may cause a considerable sea. During the bora larger vessels should anchor some 800m WNW of the islet of Korotan, during the sirocco some 400m S of the islet. Small yachts can anchor E or SE of Skoljic rock but should take care of the remains of the masonry mark on the shoal some 200m SW of the rock.
The buoy in the middle of Tripuljak cove (on the W coast) is reserved for naval vessels.
Facilities: Provisions are available in the village of Sali.
MIR (43° 54'N; 15° 09.5'E), cove on the W coast of Telascica.
Mooring: The SW part of the cove is a good all-round shelter. Yachts drawing up to 3m can moor (four-point moor) off the Mir restaurant and camp site. A good anchorage in the middle of the cove. There are three moles on the E coast of the cove for boats with tourist parties.
SE of Mir cove is Jezero, a lake with brackish water (area 0.23 km2, depth 5.6 m).
ISLAND OF VRGADA
SVETI ANDRIJA (43° 51'N; 15° 29.5'E), cove on the N side of Vrgada.
Approach: On the SW side of the cove, the reddish brown landslide is conspicuous; on the E side is an isolated chapel. The reef off the NE point of the cove (N coast of the island) is marked by a cylindrical concrete black and yellow mark and two cones point to point; the clear passage is W of the mark.
Mooring: The cove is open to NW but is protected from the bora; strong S winds cause a swell in it. Yachts drawing up to 2m can moor on the inner end of the small pier (only 15m from the root towards the head) in a depth of 2 m. At the head of the cove depth range between 0.5 and 1,0 m.
Sights: Sv Andrija church (St Andrew, 9 C?) at the cemetery.
LUKA (43° 51'N; 15° 30'E), cove on the E coast of Vrgada, the harbour of the village of Vrgada.
Approach: Landmarks: Artina islet off the NE point and the church on the hill.
Mooring: The cove affords good shelter from W winds. Approach is difficult during the bora. Only yachts drawing up to 2m can moor on the inner side of the long breakwater (four-point moor is recommended); poor holding.
Limited provisions and water available.
