Dubrovnik and Split nominees for the World Travel Awards

A respectable worldwide organization that presents tourist awards, the "World Travel Awards", has announced this year’s nominations for the best tourist destinations. Categories are divided into continents and the countries that each destination belongs to. The awards, also known as "tourist Oscars", have been presented for different achievements in all branches of the travel and tourism industry for the last 18 years.
There are more than five thousand organizations and companies, from more than 160 countries that have applied for the award this year. The "World Travel Awards" have nominated 12 Croatian representatives in eight categories, out of 50 categories that apply to Europe. The city of Dubrovnik was nominated in two categories; leading European destination and leading cruising tours destination, alongside Barcelona, Berlin, Dublin, Paris, Istanbul, Venice, Athens, Oslo, Prague, Lisbon, etc.
The Dubrovnik Tourism Board stated that nominations alone are a great reference for Croatian tourism and also the confirmation that Croatia is highly positioned as a quality tourist destination.
The second Croatian representative is the city of Split, nominated in the category of leading European harbour for cruise ships. Besides these cities, the nominees are also the Dubrovnik Palace hotels; nominated in the category of leading European hotel, leading conference hotel and leading European resort, the Rixos Libertas hotel in the category of leading conference hotel and leading casino resort and the Lešić Dimitri Palace nominated for leading European hotel.
The Le Meridien Lav hotel in Split is nominated in the category of leading European casino resort and the Adriana hotel on the island of Hvar is nominated for leading European boutique resort.
Besides the nominations for leading European hotels, they are all also nominated for "World Travel Awards" in Croatia as best hotels in different categories.
Every year,the award ceremony is held at the beginning of November in London, prior to the World Travel Market- WTM, which is the travel industry’s leading global event.
